Simone Bergmans Award
Rules reviewed by the board of directors on September 20, 1995.

1. The award is granted to an unpublished study on the history of the fine arts or the applied arts in the former Southern Netherlands and the principality of Liege and, for the modern times, the territory of Belgium. The award will only be granted to an original and scientific work, written in one of the vernacular languages or in English. The Royal Academy of Archaeology of Belgium reserves the right to publish in her journal the awarded study in consultation with the author.

2. Three copies of each manuscript have to be delivered before the fixed date to the office of the Simone Bergmans Award. One copy of each entry remains property of the Royal Academy of Archaeology of Belgium en will be deposited in the archives of the Academy. Within a mont after the granting of the award each author can ask that the two remaining copies are returned. After this period, the Academy refuses to take any further responsibility as to the manuscripts.

3. The award is triennial and can only be granted to an author who is not a full member of the Academy. The Academy will anounce the conditions of the award to the public.

4. The award is granted by a jury of seven members, appointed by the board of directors of the Academy. The decision is communicated to the candidates.

5. Only the board of directors of the Royal Academy of Archaeology of Belgium is qualified in case of dispute or interpretation of these rules. The board also determines the amount of the award and the closing date to enter the manuscripts.

In 2010 the award is 1.250,- EUR. The winner will also receive a medal. The manuscripts need to be entered before March 30, 2010.
